Re: ACX Check fails in 2.4.1
"Contrast" now works with mono or stereo (has done for a few years now). Yes there are patches to that page. That's one reason it's not linked anymore; it's in a resting phase. But that process is the reason ACX Check exists. "How can I be sure I'm passing ACX Technical Standards?&qu...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
My evil imp is insisting you read a bogus Voice Response Message in that voice. "Your call is completely unimportant to us...." I bet it goes viral or at least bacterial. Post it to everyone. As any actor will tell you, getting noticed is a Really Big Deal. But I would never suggest you do...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
There's a fuzzy, unofficial rule that if you can pass ACX, you can submit anywhere else successfully. ACX has very strict guidelines that compare favorably to broadcast standards. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering This is the short, graphic version. https://www.kozco.com/tech/au...

Two solutions in one room. Note many of the wooden panels in the background are angled. Flynwill designed one of those as a recording studio in an old building. They had a band. It looked like a normal room. The first thing you noticed was the ceiling wasn't even. Then you noticed the carpets weren'...

Re: New to ACX and no luck with auditions! Any tips?
The reverb from the room is extending the sibilance. Which itself is odd because room resonances and echoes usually make a voice muddy and less distinct. That's not to say you can't have both. Sibilance happens up around 8000Hz and intelligence tends to cluster around 3000Hz. So you can have essy, ...

Re: ACX Check fails in 2.4.1
So that explains the complaints of 2-4 minute erratic behavior. Why did earlier Audacity versions appear to succeed? ACX published restrictions are 120 minutes and they used to have a filesize restriction I can't find. So the easy answer is roll Audacity back to 2.3.3 for audiobooks. ACX Check is th...

I put it all where I'd be sure to find it later. No wonder I'm lost. Re: New to ACX and no luck with auditions! Any tips?
I got the DeEsser plugin to work. Detailed inspection of this type problem was long overdue, so that's the good news. ACX goes to great effort to cement the relationship between the reader/presenter and the author. Apparently, you have no relationship, so you didn't even get first-pass technical ins...
