Re: beeping noise coming up in recording
I am using an XLR cable (the one that came with the Rode) to connect the Solo and the Rode mic. It seems rather long. Is there a different XLR you recommend other than the one it came with? That's probably the one part of this you don't have to worry about. It's very common to buy a pre-packaged 25...

Re: Analyze spectrum down to 20Hz (and below)
I generally use one of the two highest sizes available. I'm doing this exercise to get the maximum detail and information I can. Sloppy, blobby lumps need not apply. It is also noted that I can stretch the display wider and wider to get even more detail. This has limits. If I am intent on analyzing ...

Re: Analyze spectrum down to 20Hz (and below)
Yes, but not in the way you think. If you present content at 5Hz, Plot spectrum will display spikes at 5Hz. It takes its display characteristics from the content. Can it be enhanced to go lower?
This can drive you nuts if you want to compare two different works.

Re: Recording crashed at stop
It was a fairly difficult multi-lingual podcast And multi-location? It's not the worst idea to get the conference app (Skype, Zoom) to record the whole show as a backup. Audacity 2.4.2 is usually pretty good about simple recording a show. That was the standard version for quite a while. The little ...

Re: Unable to record due to dropouts?
I couldn't record anything else Could you play the track you just recorded? even after restarting the program My first choice would be restart the machine. Any time a program misbehaves or crashes, it can leave trash lying around and cause future problems. "Sorry I crashed before I could clean up a...

Re: hey guys, has never happened to me before
This isn't your particular problem, but it's a very New User error to record a podcast, edit it, polish it up, and then post it to the web all without ever saving the work. Any serious error or crash anywhere in the process and bang, they're all the way back to performing it again. That and forgetti...

Re: hey guys, has never happened to me before
In some edits, Audacity tries to save the whole show as UNDO. Do you have room for that? Will your large show fit in memory? Are you using cloud services actively?

Re: hey guys, has never happened to me before
computer acted funny for a minute then the tracks page came back up So Audacity vanished for a second? Do you have up-to-date virus protection? Two reasons: it's not unusual for some virus packages to interfere with Audacity writing to the cache or saving work. And it's not unheard of to have two o...

Re: beeping noise coming up in recording
Are you using a plain XLR cable between the Solo and the NT1a?

No adapters or other shenanigans?

Re: beeping noise coming up in recording
It's not straight, ordinary leakage. The computer's job is to send clean, well-behaved 5 volt battery up to the Solo in the USB cable, and it's the Solo's job to use the battery to run everything while it's amplifying your NT1a and driving your headphones and creating the digital audio stream to sen...
