Re: Plz HELP! Recording Skype with Audacity on Windows 7
The problem with doing this all inside one single computer is that the computer runs out of sound channels. The computer naturally has two: record and playback and Skype takes both of them. The capture programs create a virtual machine inside the computer and gets two more to capture both sides of t...

Re: select EXACTLY
<<<It tells you the current playing or recording position.>>>
But not the current cursor position which makes it pretty much use-free for editing unless you're really good at screen capture.

Re: Copying and pasting moves audio
Ummm. Use a video editor?
As far as I know, Audacity doesn't have an Overlay or Assemble mode or anything like that, and it doesn't keep track of edit points really well. It's a feature request.
Assembling on stacked audio tracks it is. You've met the Envelope Tool, right?

Re: HELP!!! Invalid Character at Line 7 Error
Not as easy as you think because of an editor's insistence on folding the lines that are too long. A real project looks something more like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg So you may be five rows down from the top, but you're still on line one. I'd pick this one because it's full of ...

<<<1st problem I can't seem to e mail projects (Small ones) to my buddy. We were wanting to send ideas to each other and record our ideas back and forth. >>> Audacity Projects are not sound files. If you do want to send a Project, it's best if you two are in exactly the same Audacity version and you...

That looks like the Sennheiser that I have. That's an analog microphone as is this one... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg I recently recorded a professional announcer that stood six inches from the pop filter and performed as if he was playing to the third row, fourth balcony. "NOW,...

Re: Audacity slightly shortens a 2nd recording track...
That is almost always a data rate mismatch and that's almost always a crappy sound card. Let's say you paid hundreds of dollars for your USB microphone. It's a pretty safe bet that your microphone is going to produce a 16-bit, 44100, Mono signal (for example) with pretty good accuracy. Nowhere is it...

Re: Help improving recorded audio quality!
The short answer is you don't. You can't remove echoes, reverb, and "slap" from a recording. The original live recording or capture is hugely important. There are a number of things you can do wrong at that step that will kill your show, this being one of them. Overloading is another. Room...
