<<<Although Audacity can do it, it's not its main purpose....>>> And it's most likely to fail. The forum is full of people trying to open sound files that Audacity doesn't recognize, and Audacity doesn't recognize a lot -- particularly in Audacity 1.2. If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 and install l...

It's also a standing joke that many of the elves will tell you to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 before they say hello. Audacity 1.2 was designed just after the Hindenburg went down and it doesn't always get along with all modern computers any more.

Re: Stopped recording last night.
You can also get into trouble with your virus program, both too much and not enough. If your machine is busy attacking the Pentagon "in the background," it will slow down -- just a little, but it might be enough to cause problems. If this has never worked, then your virus program may be ca...

Re: Stopped recording last night.
<<<Are any other options ?>>> Yes, do a manual defragmentation anyway. This is very typical of Audacity not being able to find enough clear drive space to do the work. We're not saving or recalculating Excel Spreadsheets. Live audio (and video) doesn't wait. If you play B-flat above C and there isn'...

Re: USB Guitar Link Cable Problems
Which Windows? Audacity doesn't support ASIO software. None of this is MIDI. It might have been interesting to just plug the device in cold, set Windows looking for the USB Sound Device, set Audacity looking for the same thing and start recording. I suspect strongly what you are actually installing ...

Re: popping sound
<<<I have installed and remove audacity 3 times.>>> That doesn't actually reinstall Audacity. You also have to remove the preference files. The Windows people will be along shortly to show you how to do that. <<<You don't hear the person's voice.>>> What person? We can't see your computer or you. Wh...
