Also try resetting Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Restart Audacity. Those are very popular settings an different from Audacity native.

Leveler is my favorite for this sometimes applied at heaviest setting two or three times. For more in-your-face distortion, Effect > Amplify > Allow Clipping, pick an amplification higher than the one that's there. Did you include the _data folder? The AUP isn't a sound file. To get a sound file you have to Export one.
