Re: can't open my audacity project file
I've also always thought that default Audacity should be slow and safe. It's then really good news when we tell people they can streamline and manage a Project by intentionally leaving off some of the "safe" options. Instead of digging a hole and damaging a show first and then tell people ...

Re: can't open my audacity project file
I've always thought this was a good idea, but I got talked out of it. Doesn't that make projects massively large and awkward?

<<<spaces, which can be trouble makers sometimes too..>>>
I didn't pay him to say that.
I have to manage files across hundreds of different machines across three continents. It is the policy not to put spaces in filenames.

Re: Weak Recording Volume
Everybody always wants to do the same thing, so there is a pretty good help page for it. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer It sounds like you could be recording the laptop microphone rather than the actual on-line stream. That's more common than you think. Koz

Re: Burnt cds not working in car stereo system
You obviously need a new car. Only the moderately high end cars will play home-burned Music CDs. Just kidding. "Real" Music CDs have to be made with a CD Authoring Program like Easy CD Creator, Veritas, Nero Burning ROM, iTunes, or Windows Media (in the later versions). If you don't do tha...

I can tie that to the original error, too. Folders, directories and filenames are burned into the AUP XML listings. The AUP file may have been happy with oddball characters inside the filename, but Mac OS may hot have. Or reverse.

<<<I tried out retyping the filename suggested by Storer. It was successful. This suggests that import of filenames does not work fine under Mac OS X, perhaps due to some kind of character encoding error?>>> No. It suggests that when you typed the original filename, you pressed, for example, the bel...

Re: MP3's & WAV's massively clipped in Audacity
<<<they seem massively amplified so that most of the tune is very badly clipped.>>> Sorry. Just waking up. They seem massively amplified? Are the waveforms oversized and clipped, or the show just sounds overloaded? I've had Audacity do that to me, too and I can't remember how I cured it. I may have ...

"Hi. I'm a newbie and..."
The instructions should not suggest, or outright claim you can do "Everything." Audacity departs from norms in so many areas you can't depend on that.
