Re: Not getting all tracks to play on CD
You may have hit the perfect storm of Audacity errors. Audacity 1.2 does not get along with modern Macs and should not be used. There are some very serious discussions about problems that can happen in some versions of Label and Export. They can create file damage or unpredictable results. Again, mu...

<<<Overdubbing (the process of making an overdub, or overdubs) >>>
Excellent. Now the question was has anybody written anything on how to do this in Audacity.

Clap Hands for Cleaner Sound
Let's say I walk into a large empty room with a recorder running at one end, stand in the location of a vocal performer who will arrive later and clap. Once. Now let's say the voice performer shows up -- by herself -- and starts singing. Using the clap, we can cancel out the room echoes, right? No a...

Instructions for Multi-Track
I don't think there are any good English words for this problem. I do not mean recording five channels at once. I mean put down one track and then play that one back while you record a second...and third. Anybody see or know of a good explanation about how to do this? It's a very common question and...

Re: Recording separate vocals left/right channels
Yes, but I think you're working too hard. Audacity has techniques to play a stereo or mono track into your headphones at the same time recording your live voice. In post production, you can put any of the sounds on any track you want. I'm looking for instructions how to do that because they're invol...

Re: Not getting all tracks to play on CD
You didn't make it through all my questions. What was the exact filename of one or two of the songs that failed? New question: Is the external drive USB or FireWire? Another new question: You still have the original Big Performance not broken up into songs, right? Load that into Audacity 1.3.12. Ins...

<<<Will an inexpensive usb mic work?>>> Sure. This is the one I have. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam_communications/microphones/devices/221 You can get it much cheaper. What are the students using for Skype conversation? The reason all our eyebrows went up when you said "Skype" is Sk...

Re: Having problems creating an audio file of a large video
Two ways to do it: The desperation method is capture a live playback in real time, so you'd be capturing the song for three minutes or however long it was. It's still digital, so the quality should be very good. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer <<<live DVD of...

Re: S.O.S. Opens once Doesnt open teh next time!?
<<<Audacity 1.3 (beta), which also acts relatively unstable -but that's a diff . story.>>> Why is it a different story? All the Projects and Export files you made in Audacity 1.2.5 should open in 1.3.12. The Audacity versions are compatible that direction. Sudden unexplained computer insanity can ha...

Re: Is Audicity good for teaching singing via email?
The people on Mac laptops have a built-in microphone, but that's harder on a Windows machine. What were you planning on doing for a microphone for them, or just use the Skype services? Audacity and Skype don't always play well together, but it can be convinced to work. Most email services have a lim...
