Re: Movin to beta version problems.
I note that the Tascam is strictly an I/O device. No monitoring other than the headphones. Does the show sound good in the headphones? Balanced and not crunchy? There are four ways to determine distortion, clipping and damage inside the Mac -- Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input > ...

Re: Poll: Typing into label tracks without CTRL + B first
It wouldn't matter what you did with hot keys or live typing. I would never touch the keyboard during an important shoot. The possibility of error is too great and then there's explaining how I got key press noises into the show. If you just had to do that, my vote would be establish a label with a ...

Re: save recording with speed
The reason nobody's jumped on this is we can't figure out what you're trying to do. You can use Audacity tools to make the work sound higher but keep the same show length, sound semi-normal but make the show shorter, or simulate speeding up a tape. In all these conditions you can make a very nice MP...

<<<Thanks. I fixed my problem.>>>
It doesn't always seem like it, but this is a dialog. What was the problem and how did you resolve it?

Re: Recording separate vocals left/right channels
Have you got to where you can record your own voice or instrument straight and then play it back? I need to split this up into basic recording, and then fancy-pants recording.

Re: Not getting all tracks to play on CD
<<<I just opened a previously recorded file>>>
That you captured in Audacity 1.2?
Try this. Open the uncut and unlabeled file in Audacity 1.3.12 and Export a new WAV file. Close everything. Reopen 1.3.12 and open the new file. Label and export multiple, etc, etc.

Re: Recording Hiss/White Noise
It does sound a lot like a weak sister microphone. If a fresh, new battery doesn't help (we replace all ours once a year, sometimes sooner) then try the microphone in another computer, like your mom or your sister or something. If it's noisy there, then you got a bum microphone. You might try to cle...

Re: Major problem with distortion when using the Leveler eff
In Windows I have no idea. There is a help listing. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Plug-ins Chris's work is a little odd because it's really a text file and not strictly programming language. You should get a file called "compress.ny." It's a text file and you can open it up in NotePad ...

Re: Not getting all tracks to play on CD
<<<I guess I need to learn to accept the pace of things and be patient!>>> Oddly enough, I don't completely agree. We know what your failure was and how to prevent, cure or manage it. If you can use Audacity in a way that's more efficient for you without creating damage, then go for it and have a ha...
