Re: Can I slow down music in Audacity?
Sure. Effect > Change Speed. I wouldn't be doing that in Audacity 1.2. Install Audacity 1.3.12 and use that. If you have a newer Mac, there's no support for Audacity 1.2 at all. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac I hope you're trying to do this with live music you played on your guitar or a s...

Re: Medium Wave radio recordings
<<<If you have a recording that was on medium wave, is it possible with this program to improve the quality so it sounds like FM or CD quality?>>> No. Standard Broadcast (Medium Wave) in the US is limited to 5KHz maximum. That's the highest tone that the channel will broadcast and that number is fai...

Re: Warbly Sound When Recording with Audacity
<<<Can you explain more about how to put the connection in right method to fix this guitar problem.>>> I thought we did. If you're on a Windows Laptop, the connection you have is never going to work. You can't "adjust" it. You can use a different computer. Large Windows deskside machines a...

Re: Sample rate mismatch on Audacity vs soundcard
I have a Shure Brothers external sound card that follows me at different sample rates, so I think Audacity puts the information out there and if the device responds to it, you win.

Re: Rookie on deck - importing live radio podcast to audacit
Newer computers are making this harder and harder. The recording device is called Mix-Out, Stereo-Mix, or What-U-Hear. Sometimes it's hidden. It's possible you may not find a way to do it.

Re: Macbook - how to avoid recording ambient sound?
<<<can't find a way to record audio which is playing on the computer>>> That's because there isn't one. Macs don't support that. Some Windows machines don't support that any more, either. Macs do support the silly thing with the crossed audio cables -- Line-In to Headphone/Line-Out. That does work. ...

Re: Warbly Sound When Recording with Audacity
A guitar signal, especially a bass guitar is much too powerful for the Mic-In of a Windows machine. If your laptop doesn't have a Stereo Line-In connection you may need to make one with one of the USB sound cards we reviewed, like the UCA202. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=94...

Re: Specification for 1.2 Noise Removal
I can give you fuzzy instructions for the Noise Reduction in 1.3 Amount of reduction varies from no correction at all on the left to total overkill on the right. Gentle correction hovers around maybe 12dB or 18dB. Smoothing is the magic one. Too far to the left gives you gargly, bubbly martians. Too...

Re: Specification for 1.2 Noise Removal
That's not good news. Typically, the noise reduction in 1.3.12 is the only one that works -- and it has clearly marked values in the settings. We had a couple of posters early on that claimed they got much better noise removal in 1.2 than in the newer version. I was never able to get 1.2 to do anyth...

Re: Export MP3 File
I need to think about this. When you Export as WAV it's clean, right? There are three levels of "show." Save a Project where Audacity saves the fragments of the show, but not the actual show. When you play a Project, Audacity builds the show for you in real time, on the fly as you go. Auda...
