You never answered a question from earlier. What's the show? Where is the sound coming from?

Re: Input not detected
It's practically a dead certainty there's something wrong at the board -- the sound mixer. Probably a bad setting. That happens to us a lot. Do that test where you touch the end of the RCA cable. I bet it works. That will prove the UCA202 and the Mac are OK. All of these external steps must be compl...

Re: Input not detected
Here's another trick. Open up the Apple > Hardware thing and watch the blue ball sound meter. Plug a simple RCA cable into the UCA202 and touch one of the tips. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity//pix/TouchRCA/IMG_9171.jpg The sound meter in the Mac should bounce. Touch the other one and it should b...

Re: Not jumping back to previous position if I cut a clip
You should be able to do that with the "Home" key. I can see where track focus would drive the rest of us nuts because after a paste, the next most likely thing you would want to do is stay there and tune it up and adjust it, not snap to the head of the show. You have to press END anyway, ...

Or you can use the tools correctly. That wavy noise can be the noise reduction tools in Audacity 1.2 which were terrible. Download and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ ...and use that. The noise reduction in Audacity 1.3 is vastly better than the earlier one. It...

Re: Input not detected
Step One: Download and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac Modern Macs do not support Audacity 1.2. Make sure the new Audacity is installed and then close it. You can have both Audacity versions on your machine. Just don't open 1.2 any more. If you have a s...

Re: Firefox 3.6.3
Here. Try this. Download Piano2 and LRMono. http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html They're really short. Six seconds and thirteen seconds. Restart Audacity. Throw the two clips on a timeline and do some simple fades like you have in the damaged work. Export As WAV and see if everything worked. Koz

<<<I can import audio to a project>>> Let's start there. Where is the sound coming from? Audacity, particularly in the 1.2 version is not a terrific sound file standards converter. It will open up completely oddball files and let you think you're editing them and then fall face-forward in the dirt l...

<<<there was a midi option on gsnap.>>> Maybe it didn't make sense because you were expecting an audio program. MIDI isn't audio. MIDI control is a way to get a computer to press musical keyboard keys. That's all it does. If you want to record the music that the keyboard makes, then you have to run ...

Re: How to setup Audacity for Skype recording
Welcome to the place everybody gets stuck. The only way to record both sides of a Skype call -- other than a full on-multi-channel sound mixer -- is Pamela or Total Recorder. Even if you do that, you can't mix live. You either get both voices jammed into one presentation in which case you can't cont...
