Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?

We've got to stop colliding like this. The UCA202 is line-level only. No microphone preamplfier at all. I need to look at the microphones to see what their delivered level is. Typically you put microphpone level in one end and get microphone level out the other. Is there a Mic/Line switch at the rec...

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?

Dueling posts. <<<Done some radio mic work before just not directly into a PC.>>> That goes a long way to success. We have posters whose only audio experience is turning up the volume on their iPod. "How do I capture a 37 piece orchestra? It's this afternoon. It's important!" In that case ...

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?

Will Audacity run on your netbook? You need about 1.4GB of space to capture 2 hours of work at 44100,16-bit, stereo. Nowhere is it written you have to capture with Audacity, but it's nice to edit later. In all conditions you will need to maintain about 10% free space on the hard drive just to provid...

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?

I'll probably drop in and out as I think of problems. What kind of battery does the transmitter take and how easy is it to change? Does the transmitter have a method of testing the battery without taking the transmitter apart? Does the transmitter disconnect from the microphone and can you buy more ...

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?

If you have one presenter, you can always stuff them on either left or right of the stereo capture show and put someone else -- guest -- on the other side. Mix and apply effects and correction to each channel individually as needed and combine for the final show. Most talk work is mono, enhanced by ...

Re: What happened to 64 bit integers in Audacity?

<<<Bear in mind also that few players will play WAV or AIFF larger than 2 GB in size, which means that even if you exported as a 44100 Hz 16-bit mono WAV, you're limited to 6 hours 40 minutes. >>>

I thought it was 4GB, but I believe you.

What's the upper limit for MP3?

Re: Says my file does not exist

I can see three problems. The most serious one is you're using the wrong Audacity. Modern Macs do not support Audacity 1.2. Get 1.3.12 from here. You don't have to take out 1.2 if you don't want to. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac If Audacity is at a complete loss to open a file, chances a...

Re: Audio Filtering Question

<<<The vertical axis indicates ...>>> That's probably one of the most precise, comprehensive descriptions of "percent" I've read in a long time. 100Hz is the magic place where the noise/show trade-off occurs. Above that frequency or pitch tone, most of the energy is actual show -- an actor...

Re: Audio Filtering Question

<<<One other (easier :D ) question: what are the vertical axis units in an Audacity window? Am I right in thinking the vertical axis is dB?>>> No. They're in percent 1.0 = 100%. Many people like to edit in percent because most of the useful information is in the loudest half of the sounds you can he...

Re: What happened to 64 bit integers in Audacity?

Large shows are an exercise in computer technology. It's not just "the OS handles it so everything must be OK." Everything is not OK. If the show goes much over about six hours, the computer can't be doing anything else. There is one developer that got many multiple hours of capture to wor...
