Re: I Need help in moving multiple sound files at once!
I bet you can't drag them all with the Time Shift Tool. Create another long track underneath all the others and fill it with silence. I bet it now lets you move all the other tracks with reference to that silent track. I think Audacity needs to have at least one track that stays put. You should seri...

Re: Compressing/Mixing to be more studio-like
I'll start by writing a simple web page for posting. You can start in NotePad or TextEdit and give them to me in PM as three text lines. General Description. Comments. Platform(s) Title of the Tool Web Address. General Description. Comments. Platform(s) Title of the Tool Web Address. General Descrip...

Re: Problem with Sound Finder
Sound Finder and its sister Silence Finder never did work very well and they really fall apart when you try to use them on a vinyl record. If you're transferring a favorite record that you played many times, then the record has a lot of noise. This kills both of those tools because the silence betwe...

Re: Problems with sound levels when recording
Do you have your keyboard plugged into the Microphone-In of your laptop? Many Windows laptops have auto volume setting features now to set your voice for Skype conversations. This software doesn't always get along so well with musical performances. This is beyond the Microphone-In not being able to ...

Re: Saving Audacity Data Files
WAV (or FLAC) are production formats. They're perfect copies of the show. That's what you back up. MP3, AAC, and the other compressed formats are delivery formats and are designed to be used once, not used in production over and over again. You can go from WAV down to MP3 or other compressed format ...

<<<The Hard Limiter was exactly what I was looking for.>>>
Then you win. Hard Limiting is a special purpose effect -- like a fuzz guitar -- that can do serious damage to the sound. That's why it's not right at the top of our recommendations.

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?
<<<But I can record straight to the NetBook HDD can't I?>>> My opinion is yes. But try it. Again, this is a netbook not a full boogie computer. Shortcuts have been taken. Slow internal drives are used on netbooks to save battery life -- even if there is a hard drive at all. Slow and Live Capture ten...

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?
OK, survey's done. The AKG delivers microphone level audio to the microphone-in of a mixing console. So yes, you do need a microphone amplifier. This is where I start lunch and leave the other elves to it. I have almost no experience with separate microphone amplifiers. I'm partial to the Peavey PV6...
