Re: Fixing "Robot" Voice
The professor is working through re-recording the lectures and animating them 5X Editing. Editing and preparing a show takes five times the length of the show—minimum. Usually much longer if you're new at it. That's remarkably reliable as a labor projection. This is why many people want to record i...

Re: Help with loudness normalization
I have folders with over 100 tracks each All that and it can depend on where the tracks came from. A very common complaint is from people trying to match LP transfers with the exact same song mastered in the last couple of years. That effort is pretty much doomed. The older work is going to have ve...

Re: import m4a, export wav; Zoom H4n says "Invalid File!"
You might get a lot of warnings. Audacity changes the bit depth when you import something. My guess would have been that Audacity didn't change it and you tried to apply a 22050 Hz based file to the H4n. It may not like that as the sound fidelity wouldn't be very good. I opened up the H4n instructio...

Re: 3 Decimal place frequency?
create a tone frequency with a 2 or 3 decimal place accuracy My guess is no, not because we can't post user messages with that kind of accuracy, but home computers just can't do it. Most computers can't make a 30 minute recording and have it come out 30 minutes because the internal data timebases a...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
It's possible to fake out ACX Check. If you never leave a 3/4 second quiet gap anywhere in your presentation, ACX Check is going to measure some of your actual performance as a desperation move. That's going to appear unnatrually loud and doesn't reflect the actual background sound. The goal is to a...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
When/how to use Noise Gate? Never? Noise Gate is too easy to create sound damage by accident: clipped words, partial breaths or pumping background noise. You are right at the limit of regular Noise Reduction, too. What was your noise? There may be other, better ways to deal with this. Burn a small ...

Re: Delay on voice in headphones when recording for Podcast
Skype may be offering other services by now. We're all looking at each other wondering why Skype doesn't offer recording both sides on the local machine. I can point to billions of forum posters who want that. So if you know about more services than I do, post back. Remember that it's only going to ...
