Re: entire middle of saved/exported audio is blank???
Another slightly less common cause of this is pulling an interview from a portable or external drive or a thumb drive and then disconnecting the drive before you Export your show. Poof, no more interview. You can cause Audacity to pull sound files into itself for editing in Preferences and this prob...

Re: entire middle of saved/exported audio is blank???
You should be careful with that phrase. Bugs are bad behavior experienced by thousands of people at the same time. You probably have trouble understanding how Audacity works. Audacity will Export a sound file of your show and you can choose what type of file and many different characteristics. Howev...

Re: HOW DO I EXTRACT AUDIO FROM A DVD?
<<<ny individual VOB (including video) can't be more than 1 GB.>>> That's the encoded Video Object, with usually four of them making up the actual movie (given no funny business protection) with the rest of the 8GB taken up with director comments and coming attractions. However, you still can't &quo...

Re: Timeline Behaving Strangely
So you're saying the blue waves move back and forth as you play the music (you can set that in preferences), but the time duration numbers along the bottom of the presentation do not change? Do the duration numbers change if you Drag-Select > Zoom (Command-E) some portion of the show? Does it still ...

Re: flac encoder
It's probably possible to force the older Audacity to do this, but you should probably give up and install Audacity 1.3.12 which has FLAC built-in.

You can install both versions as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2.

Re: Recording Issue with Mic
There are ways to force certain computers to accept two inputs at the same time, but they're not generally good for production. They're digital celebrities and they generally stop at two.
You need a mixer.

Which Audacity wont do. Audacity will only record from one "device" or channel at a time.

Re: HOW DO I EXTRACT AUDIO FROM A DVD?
<<<when I hit any of the "larger" sections of the VOP files - it wants to take "forever".>>> Movie DVDs are highly compressed. When you try to unfold a movie into its parts, suddenly the movie reverts to its real size. Say a 90 minute movie, 24 frames per second (really 23.976fps...

Re: Renaming file makes data disappear - how to retrieve dat
<<<FEATURE REQUEST !!! hide the data !! this is the third time in two days people have done this make it impossible for them to do it.>>> It's a lot more serious than that. Everybody thinks Audacity is a WAV editor. It's not. It's an Editorial Production Environment Manager. It produces Projects. Th...

Re: Recording Issue with Mic
You glanced briefly at "recording two mics." How are you doing that? Most computers -- say all -- won't let you do that. You can start with setting Audacity preferences for 44100, 16-bit, mono. Restart Audacity to make sure the settings stick. Then dig in the Windows Control Panels to sele...
