Re: Static in Audacity, but not Quicktime, Garageband
When Audacity opens up a sound file, the first thing it does is convert it to Audacity's own super-high quality, internal sound format. So the work inside Audacity is much larger and more complicated than you think or the other programs have to deal with. How many different apps do you have running ...

Re: ACX Check fails in 2.4.1
The problem as posted up the thread is an effective maximum limit under Audacity 2.4.1 of about 4 minutes. Not 45 minutes. So people are looking up from their hour-long read (ACX Maximum Chapter is 120 minutes) wondering what they're going to do. My suggestion is make it work as well as it used to. ...

Re: low level high pitched background sound on recordings
Sometimes you can drag-select a portion of the show with very low volume or background noise and there will be nothing to cover up the whistle. Also make sure plot spectrum "size" setting is cranked up. A low size setting turns the spectrum display into sloppy mush. But don't go too high, ...

Re: Loudness Normalization without peak, why?
Note this process easily passes ACX Audiobook Technical Testing. With small variations in output volume, it may be submitted almost anywhere else, including Broadcast.

Re: Loudness Normalization without peak, why?
But that will set the Loudness Normalization to a lower level. No it doesn't, or at least not in any way that creates damage. When you set loudness, Audacity takes into account all the sound in the performance (one reason you need the rumble filter first). When you run the limiter, it only applies ...

Re: Loudness Normalization without peak, why?
Please consider adding a smart limiter for the Loudness Normalization then it would be perfect! Before you ride off in all directions, please regard Audiobook Mastering whose first step is not audio processing but low pitch sound attenuation. Re: ACX Check fails in 2.4.1
I think detecting this outlier is a perfect job for ACX Check-II, along with tailored voice loudness measurements.Do we want "our" robot to be able to detect problems like this?
Meanwhile, great multitudes are left hanging as regular ACX Check fails.
Flynwill isn't available.

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
Oh, wait. One more. Where is the script and how are you reading? I keep forgetting I'm the only arguably sentient human that reads from paper. Some of those fancy electronic options make noise.

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
There is a piece missing. What is the microphone and where is the computer? Most of the background noise is plain, soft, rain-in-the-trees shshshshshshsh. Piece of cake, but there are two tones in there which could be computer fan noise. What kind of lights do you have? Do you use a dimmer on older ...

Re: Air pods not syncing with audacity HELP
How do you turn AirPods off? They are battery operated, right, and not that big a battery, either? Is there such a thing as having them Power Down while they're in your ear? It would be very Apple to build-in a power save feature. What is the indication that the battery(s) are flat? You know all thi...
