Re: effects are disabled

If you're on a modern Mac, you should be in Audacity 1.3.12. The older 1.2 has significant problems.

Re: Recommondation for a Chorus Live Concert in a Church

We have been urging everyone up to Audacity 1.3.12. Newer Macs don't support Audacity 1.2 at all and newer Windows machines support it with holes here and there. Audacity 1.3.12 is far more stable on all platforms -- in spite of what the download labels say. You can safely install both versions on y...

Re: How to play multiple audios simultaneously?!

In general, any time you press Stop at the end of a recording and then press Record, Audacity should start a new track underneath the old one. When played, both tracks will play at once unless you pressed Mute or Solo. If you get to the end of a track and Stop, and then Press Append-Recording (Shift...

Re: Is it possible to remove distortion?

Since the performer is generally paid far more and or have higher stature than the sound guy, the sound guy would go in favor of one that knew how to record live performances. It's far more difficult than anyone thinks.

If you're paying attention, you can get him back. As it is now, you left the door open for the month...

Re: mono or stereo

In each case it gives you control. The top quality software for phone interviews gives you the option of recording you on Left and the far voice on Right so you can apply editing, effects, and corrections to either voice by itself in post production. Mix to mono when you're done. Live interviews are...

Re: Cleaning up old voice recording

I'm not actually advocating this, but since chances of success are almost zero, I can tell you the Hollywood Way would be to sit someone down and transcribe the work into script form and then pay a Voice Talent to read the work into a top quality sound system, a cousin to the way they do Books On Ta...

Re: Argh - caught out by no export quality settings in prefs

Can we assume that the rips are at the higher quality? Just because the Exports are at 16-bit, doesn't mean the Projects have to be. Or didn't you save the Projects? This is an old wound. There is nothing straightforward about the way Audacity handles audio specifications and it's schizophrenic. It ...
