Re: won't write mp3, can't find lame
Did you get the lame software from the web site associated with the version of Audacity you downloaded? One of the Audacity versions took a specially tuned lame for best results. Audacity doesn't necessarily like running on networks or complex machines. It's a really simple program (particularly in ...

The rest of the track will remain where it was. Envelope tool will let you change volume slowly over ...

"Patch specified," or "Path specified?" Do your clips have dates or punctuation marks in the names? Mom's Storytime 3/5/09.wav can kill you. Change to safe filenames. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and underscore only. No other characters. Mom-Storytime_20090305.wav ...

Re: No sound from project files - intermittently
Projects don't lend themselves to complex editorial systems as you're finding out. Yes, they don't work well on a network, but they tend to "marry" the computer they're on. You need to know that Audacity projects will not open across versions. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2, al...

Re: mono or stereo
I believe both the Marantz and the Zoom field recorders will support double microphones and I can do it with my Shure FP24 field mixer and MacBook Pro (and Audacity, of course). Two isn't unusual for serious field recorders because of the need to record stereo. There are serious cost jumps between m...
