Re: Recording a phone call
Cellphone calls do don't have to squeeze through a single pair of wires and then be "broken out" again to bidirectional conversations. That's what kills you on a land-line and that's exactly what's missing on a digital voice system. That's why Skype and the others work so well. The two dir...

Re: No Preference Menu With USB Microphone
USB microphones work from the battery supplied at the USB connections (usually 5 volts). If there is anything wrong with that battery at the connector, then the microphone will not behave properly. Simple USB microphones will reduce volume as the battery becomes damaged. More complicated microphones...

Re: PLEASE help me!!! Clean up a conversation file!!!
<<<i need to strongly concentrate on that and ignore the other noises!>>> I'm perfectly clear what you want to do. Do you want this for surveillance, or theatrical production? If for surveillance, then the posted equalizer filter may help -- very slightly. That business where the hero pulls sharp, c...

Re: download problem
When you restart your Mac, so you get the Chong sounder? If you don't, that's a sign that the Mac has something wrong with its hardware and you may need to get the machine serviced. Does your Mac have both Headphone Out and Line-In (thin circle icon with two black arrows)? Push your headphone plug i...

Re: Sound Card Reviews
I couldn't find the instruction book at all, so this is a big help even though I'm going to need to scare up a Windows machine to read it. I did run across a comment that all Blaster cards have Microphone Boost on the chipset, but elect to, or not to, support it in software. Mostly not, and there fo...

Re: my client can't hear my files
Unfortunately, when I tried to contact griggsjoad to find out more about this problem, she said I was spamming her and locked my emails. So that's that.
I'm glad I could help you find work and I'm disappointed that you weren't able to help us.

Re: PLEASE help me!!! Clean up a conversation file!!!
<<<Is there any way to grab only the conversation of the 2 people without the other noises?>>> The short answer is no. If the bad sounds are slightly louder than the conversation, then none of the noise keying tools will work, and if the bad sound changes many times, like a telephone ringing or a ca...

Re: Recording a phone call
"The audio output from Voice Port contains a nice mix of audio from both sides of the conversation." In other words, it's monitoring the earpiece complete with telephone sidetone which is a portion of the transmit voice fed back into the earpiece. So if the person at the far end mumbles, y...

Re: Sound Card Reviews
I'm searching for a plain, analog sound card that isn't too dreadful. It needs to have Stereo Line-In, Stereo Line-Out and/or Headphone-Out. It needs to have a Mic-In with 20dB Mic Boost. This is the spec that kills you when you're Googling. Nobody ever writes down the boost tool. I have a Creative ...

Re: No Preference Menu With USB Microphone
<<<I still am wondering what caused my microphones to go weak in the first place no matter what app I'm using.>>> You need to read through that last post carefully. Some better sound cards have a "20dB Boost" selector and it's frequently the difference between getting a good volume recordi...
