Re: Recording With More Than One Mic

Most regular computers, Mac, PC, or Linux will not let you do multiple microphones. They have a place to plug in one microphone (no "Y" cables allowed) and Audacity will only record from one sound device, so both the hardware and the software are working against you. This is the mixer I us...

Re: 2-part problem recording vocal track over existing music

We will direct you to Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ ...which has the ability to "tune out" some, but not all, of the delays. Some computers can't be made into Digital Audacity Workstations, but you do have the right idea. I'm told you don't need Software Pl...

Re: After using Audacity all sound on my Mac has gone

It's possible to dig yourself a hole again with Skype. Skype viciously reassigns Mac sound services while its running and sometimes doesn't put them back when it's done. You just have to know that it's going to do that and be prepared to manually change System Preferences if they get stuck again. It...

Re: After using Audacity all sound on my Mac has gone

You didn't tell us a lot about the machines you're using, but can we assume MacBook Pro and this happened right after you tried to use your new USB turntable? Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Output > Headphones/Built-In Output. Is that what yours says? If not, unplug everything -- Ne...

Re: recording from speakers to line in, get nothing. HELP, H

<<<I cant make Audacity work if no sound thru computer.>>> No. That's not true. You can record just fine and still not be able to hear what you're doing. The two sound pathways are separate. If you've connected your system and adjusted the Windows Control Panel to accept sound from Line-In, you shou...

Re: Non functioning Left Channel on recording.

<<<could be the sound card - bad component - heat sensitive - intermittent>>> Probably not. This is a Mac, not a cheap sound card. This is also the connector that has the optical SPDIF in the back as well as stereo Line-In -- dual purpose. I have had problems where the connector doesn't go all the w...

Re: TRACKING BEFORE BURNING ON CD

After you get your music broken up into individual songs, open them up in iTunes. Create a playlist and drag your songs into the playlist. A playlist will let you arrange the order of songs. Then burn the playlist to a CD. The burn dialog will let you tune the gap between songs and a few other tools...

Re: Non functioning Left Channel on recording.

What kind of turntable is it and how is it connected to the Mac? USB? Analog audio cables? External Preamp?

Re: Can Audacity's Internal 'clock' get screwed up?

You might inspect your hard drive. Audacity will not run into a full or badly fragmented hard drive. It spends more and more time looking for places to put the work and less and less time worrying about the actual show. No production machine should have a hard drive worse than 80% or 90% full. I sta...
