Re: poor quality audio after 1 min or so of recording
<<<anyone have a fix for this? >>> No, but we mostly know why it's happening. You can't actually plug a powerful, line level, stereo signal into a connector that's expecting a tiny, wispy, mono microphone signal. It usually just distorts in addition to being missing the "right" channel. If...
Windows 8
A note ran this weekend about the direction Windows 8 is taking. Virtual machines, cloud computing, and total business orientation. If you thought Win7 was awkward to use.... So that leaves Mac (Easy/Expensive), and Linux (Difficult/Free). And before the Linux weenies get all excited, who do you thi...

Re: Which version should I use?
It's good to make it through the Project explanation. Audacity will not save a sound file and AUP is not a sound format.

Re: need to remove transvestite sound from my voice
A note. You're still going to need to get rid of the noise level that appeared in your test. I mean at the capture step, not later. Doing a voice job is not an automatic cue to apply six or eight filters, patches, and tools. If you need that, it usually means your capture is technically damaged no m...

Re: Which version should I use?
You use what you're comfortable with and the one that works best. That's the non-answer. The real answer is you're much more likely to be successful with 1.3.12. Audacity 1.2 is hopelessly out of date and on newer Windows machines, it can have problems. If you're on a newer Mac, 1.2 isn't supported ...

<<<The recording would benefit greatly from using a better microphone (close up) and better sound card, both for producing less noise, and picking up the lower (more manly) tones in the voice.>>> Oh, yes. I forgot about that. Directional microphones have Proximity Effect. You get ballsier the closer...

Re: Imported MP3s distorted
Left to its own devices, iTunes saves music in AAC, not MP3. You can configure Audcaity 1.3.12 to recognize this format, but not Audacity 1.2. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2. You can safely put both versions of Audacity on your machine, but only use one ...

Re: Recording from cd-rom drive
Windows machines are corporate computers and successive versions of Windows machines make this internal recording thing harder and harder to do. The older machines let you record using a pathway called "What-U-Hear." "Mix-Out," or "Stereo-Mix," according to your compute...
