Re: Do you lose audio quality if you string together mp3s?
One note. You can export your mix as WAV or other uncompressed format and it will sound like it did when you mixed it, but neither you nor anybody else can ever make another MP3 at the same 128 quality. You can also make an MP3 at "insanely high" quality and that works, too, but if you're ...

Re: Do you lose audio quality if you string together mp3s?
Yes. Stop doing that. MP3 is a single, final delivery format, not a production format. It causes damage. All production and show management should be performed in WAV or other uncompressed format. Then you wouldn't have these multiple pass problems. Unless you also saved your Audacity Projects, you ...

Re: New noise removal algorithm
Sorry. I'm falling asleep. I have a real world noise test on my site. I'm using it for something else, so it didn't immediately click what I had. http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html Scroll down to c304. That's an actual noisy room in the C Building that Production wants to use for sound record...

Re: Remove voice/specific frequency range without going mono
One sentence description of "Vocal Removal." Invert either Left or Right blue waveforms on the timeline and add left and right into a single, mono show. Anything in the middle of the stereo field will cancel. Audacity used to call that effect "Center Pan Removal" because that's e...

Re: Low Input Levels Using Preamp
<<<dynamic mic>>> Such as? Model numbers? It's certainly possible to get an awkward combination of microphone and microphone amplifier. I have three microphone systems and only one has more than enough reserve gain to handle any volume level of performance. The other two run out pretty quickly and p...

Re: Convert Mac Audacity to Windows Audacity
How do you get around the directory designators being different between the Mac and Windows versions? MusicAudacitypiano2.wav /My Music/Audacity/piano2.wav Further, the locations of "foreign" music files is going to be completely different between the two machines. /Volumes/JimmyHD/Users/k...

Re: problems when recording
<<<and my voice is late. >>>
Your voice is late in your headphones during the performance, or late compared to the music when you play back the show? Those are two different problems.

Re: Remove voice/specific frequency range without going mono
You have an odd collection of requirements. There are some money-based products that can remove or isolate specific directions in a stereo show, not just in the middle like Audacity and Karaoke systems. Voice Removal or Isolation --Center Pan Remover (Voice Remover--Search the page for "Center ...

Re: Install of Audacity on iMac 10.5.8 PPC
I wouldn't be installing Audacity on a Power PC running Leopard. Multiple forums have warned against trying to cross hardware and operating systems like that. Just for one example, Audacity 1.2.6 is appropriate for a PPC running Tiger, and Audacity 1.2.5 is appropriate for an Intel Mac running eithe...

Re: Audacity having problems importing some files
<<<I can import and edit the original music files normally>>> We would all like to assume that "Original Music Files" are those you made by singing into a microphone. That's probably not true, is it? So you started the movie well after the first act. Where, exactly, did the music files com...
