Re: Audacity takes an age to load up, then crashes. ALSO..
Without digging too hard, Audacity doesn't much like running along with other audio programs. It's a really simple program and likes simple computers. Soundflower is a little rough to use. It's an output device, not an input device. It's purpose is to allow you to record internet (internal) audio on...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
,,,I think what most people here on this forum can't seem to comprehend is my initial expectations. >>> We're perfectly clear what your initial expectations were. Get a program that does a better job at noise removal than Audacity. I personally would be using Audacity 1.3.12 for noise removal. Those...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
<<<anything that would come out of the amp speakers would be inputed and recorded onto the computer.>>> Not exactly. That would give you the sound up to the speaker. You would be missing the speaker itself and the sound of the cabinet -- the wood, the fabric, and the architecture. If the amplifier h...

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
And yes, TMPGEnc will cheerfully convert back and forth between the MPEG versions and layers, but my license was money-based. Doesn't the demo do something messy to the show?

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
Video CD format uses MPEG1, an early compression scheme. The video is typically 1/4 size on the disk and the quality is a cousin to VHS videotape. You see full screen video through an auto zoom feature. This is by convention. It doesn't have to be that way, but it's the most common. The compression ...

Re: I am not very computer literate.
The short answer is many modern Windows machines can not record internet audio because the recording options have been removed. If you're on a Windows laptop, there is a good chance you don't have a Stereo Line-In connection and can't use the crossed audio cables trick. Windows Laptops are business ...

Re: Saving as compressed project (wide size variation)
Most modern compressors depend on show content. The easier it is to compress the show, the smaller the show files. For one simple example, Instead of using Left and Right stereo, use the sum and difference -- a lossless conversion through simple math. A mono show will compress to half the size of a ...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
A note. You can't plug a guitar amplifier headphone connection directly into your computer. You still need the UCA202 USB adapter or equivalent. The Radio Shack 3013 microphone is a condenser microphone, by the way. An electret is a condenser element. I don't know that we hit this yet. There are two...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
You're bumping up against the price point again. Most people find recording a guitar amplifier from the headphone socket is perfectly correct and can produce a working performance -- which will suck because most of the impact of the amplifier is the sound of the cabinet and mechanical speaker which ...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
We've had people posting and complaining bitterly about noise problems and especially volume on USB microphones. When you're bumping along the bottom of the price point, it's easy to get stuck with a product the manufacturer is using as a throw-away or a loss leader. Even if you do well with researc...
