Re: Speakers on laptop stopped working after using audacity
<<<I made an audio recording using audacity>>> What did you record? Singing into a microphone? If you used a USB device, that could be where you sound went. Many computers assume (wrongly) that if you plug a USB microphone in, the computer needs to assign sound to it both directions . Inspect the Wi...

They're still glass and break easily, they get hot, they take a minute or two to turn on, and they take hundreds of volts to get them to work right. Oh, and they wear out and have to be replaced. They don't tell you that in the ads...

<<<Apple put a contact for a third ring in the headphone socket on the newer Mac Book Pros to make it compatible with iPhone earbuds. >>> That's interesting... " Connect external speakers, headphones (including iPhone), or digital audio equipment." I need to find someone who has an iPhone....

Re: New MAC user - old PC user
I went into the back room and dug out my packing material and instructions for the MacBook. That funny circle and two black arrows icon is for: "Audio In/ optical digital audio in port" "Connect your MacBook Pro to a line level microphone or digital audio equipment." Well, that s...

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
In case I wasn't cheerful enough earlier, you will be editing the original MP3 embedded track. Audacity doesn't edit MP3, it converts to an internal format and then generates a new MP3 when you're done. Every time it does that, you increase MP3 compression damage -- bubbling, honky sound. You may fi...

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
We've always used a video editor (or something that works like one) to put video and audio back together. I don't remember TMPGEnc being able to do that, but it's possible. There are a lot of options I wisk by without paying attention. It's certain that you will not be able to edit within a movie wi...

<<<Koz, your playing is not that bad... I mean, it's not your guitar... :P You'll get there with some more practice ;) I'm not much of a fan of steel strings, but for a $20 mic I think it's pretty decent.>>> The guitar is grand.
