Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

<<<this weather doesn't let me stay away from the beach and outdoors activities>>>

Tragic problem, isn't it? "No, no! Don't make me go running on the beach in the sunset after work!"

Pure torture. Really.

Re: So Simple yet so anoying... nothing opens!!!

Step one. Stop using Audacity 1.2 Modern Macs need a later Audacity. Install 1.3.12. You can install both on your Mac, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2 http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac Audacity only needs the plugin software to make MP3 files, not to re...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

The room helps a great deal. It does sound a little strange when you walk in -- like a funeral home. I don't wonder that most people avoid it for meetings. It's always empty.

Yes!!

<<Peavey>>> As in the other forum sections, it's the one I can vouch for. I can also vouch for that broken, fifteen year old Tascam, but nobody is likely to go out and buy one of those. http://www.oldvcr.tv/collection/index.html?Mode=View&Brand=Tascam&Model=M-06ST I can specifically not reco...

<<<This phrase is also a bit confusing - RMS is an average (Root Mean Square). You can't have an RMS value at a point - that would just be the "Root Square", which is the same as the peak value.>>> See? DC level is even worse. I note that on our local NPR station, one of the presenters has...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

It's a Peavey PV6 plugged into my MacBook Pro. Any minute I'm going to have extra time to upload the pictures. The room, for all practical purposes is dead quiet with no echoes. The microphone is one of these... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/C414XLII/ So this is what you can do if the micro...

Re: mad electric noise at 30 seconds

That is a laptop. Without going into the technical specifications, the computer probably does not have a high volume, Stereo Line-In connection on its side. It's much more likely to have a mono Mic-In connection (same type of plug) which will overload in the presence of a hot, stereo signal. It's po...

Re: Determining dBFS levels in selection

Amplify changes the size of both L and R waveforms lock step together. Normalize does it individually for L and then again for R. Normalize is much more likely to cause stereo directional issues in a stereo show.

Re: Recovering files

<<<Could you give me some example of a format, that way I would know what I'm doing and not mess up.>>> There are a number of different ways to digitize audio. Each one is a different format -- some are cousins of each other. 44100, 16-bit, Stereo is the format of the music on a Music CD. 48000, 16-...

Re: Recovering files

<<<copy a picture and paste it on the clipboard as it was playing.>>> I wonder if the system didn't try to make this performance into a movie file. Can you tell what kind of icon is associated with the file? Instead of forcing it to play in Audacity, what happens if you just double click it? Or have...
