Re: Poor export quality
MP3 gets progressively worse as you do production which is why we tell people don't do production in MP3. WAV or AIFF are good as are any of the other uncompressed formats. As above, you can keep the show from getting worse, but the sample rate and the file sizes will be very much higher. No more 64...

Re: fuzz cleanup
The short answer is no.
You hit the trifecta. Multiple low quality voices and only some of them are damaged. Each problem is extraordinarily difficult, but all at once means you have no show.

Re: network drives...
If you use a network drive for editing and production, you are not editing with an unconditionally stable system. You are "getting away with it." Everybody's had a run-in with IP, as in "Voice Over IP," (VOIP, Skype, etc.). IP is only half of the fun with networking. It's full na...

Re: Multitracking and "dropping in"
It's really difficult to get Audacity to do production in real time. A very common request is to apply filters while recording, but Punch-In and Scrubbing are right up there on the Feature Request list.

Re: totally lost
I suspect even if you throw money, you're not going to do much better. Transferring vinyl doesn't lend itself to automation. There are no reliable ways to find the silent stretches between songs. If you have a favorite album, the wear on the grooves puts noise between the songs and kills the Silent ...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
Here's a pix of the "studio." I asked him if he'd be willing to pluck my strings and he said, "I'm free now if that's OK." So that was OK and I had to set up in a hurry. The Mac is on the right.

Re: Need advice on clipping, Audacity or Cakewalk UA-1G?
It's difficult to get a piece of analog audio equipment to accurately indicate clipping -- the place where significant electronic damage occurs. I have electronics which show the clipping light and there is no sound damage at all. I have powerful commercial speaker amplifiers with an adjustment proc...

Re: Frustrating recording problems after reformatting to XP
Just a point. Why did you go down to XP instead of up to Win7? I would have had serious second thoughts about going down because it's possible the hardware and drivers only work with Vista. As you're finding out, the performance of the sound card is terrible compared with the more advanced operating...

Re: Frustrating recording problems after reformatting to XP
<<<By the way, I have AV Voice Changer>>> That's not good news. Audacity is a simple program and likes running on simple computers. It confuses easily when used with other audio programs. Why did you leave Vista? dB Boost is also called Microphone Boost. On my machines it only affects microphone inp...

Re: Live Broadcast Console
Audacity will not do anything in real time except Record, Playback, and Sound Keyed Recording. It's a post production tool. What happened when you googled some of those requirements? "Podcast Audio Console." I can't believe that's not available. People show up here all the time waiting Aud...
