The reason I asked you what version you were using was the earlier 1.2 sometimes had troubles with music information that you personally typed in. I think that's been fixed leaving you with bad files other people made. Rough to do anything about that.

Re: How do I select long parts without...
I use the brute force method of deleting large chunks of show. Select a large chunk clearly not enough and delete that. Zoom in a bit and do it again. Repeat until you only have the desired show left. I admit this requires you to know ahead of time the constitution of the show. You can also use the ...

Re: Tones below 100Hz result in a high pitched squeak
Cool. Let's see if we can force the issue. Generate two or three seconds of the following: 120 Hz 60 Hz 30 Hz 15 Hz 7 Hz First play music and make sure you didn't do anything silly. Does the music sound normal? Good and bassy? Play the tones in sequence. You can hear 120, but the others should be al...

Re: New MAC user - old PC user
I know I've done my job well when somebody stops me in the lunch line and tells me what they spilled because they were laughing. The group that has to fix the wet equipment doesn't laugh as much. It's not that you can't manage all those. It's just really challenging because you have to remember the ...
Re: exporting
Again within the Mac, you can use iTunes for format translation. Go into iTunes Preferences and set "CD Importing" format for your goal. Remember where it was so you don't mess up your iPod music. Pull your music into iTunes, select it, and Advanced > Create a [new format] Version. iTunes ...

Re: Does Audacity edit MP4 (video) files?
You need a "real" video editor to put them back together. I think the simplest way is QuickTime Pro on the Macs. The Pro upgrade from normal Player lets you do simple editing and capture. One of the things you can do is lay in a new sound track in an existing video. You can export in eithe...

Re: Tones below 100Hz result in a high pitched squeak
Good low frequency "sound" is expensive. I'm not shocked that your $8 USD sound card will not pass 7 Hz. I bet it has troubles passing anything below 100Hz. That's why I was wondering how you got it to work the first time. What was your pipeline when you were watching your speaker cones go...

Re: Tones below 100Hz result in a high pitched squeak
<<<you're in an earthquake zone - right Koz>>> That's like asking someone if they have any boating stories. Get a nice cuppa.... <<<generate a 7 Hz chirp. >>> You can't generate a 7 Hz "chirp." It violates all the Fourier rules. You're generating a mathematical abstraction not traceable to...

Re: Tones below 100Hz result in a high pitched squeak
One of the tricks with producing earthquake sounds is not to start and stop the tones too quickly. In real life (trust me on this) the 7Hz motion builds up relatively slowly and the house starts rocking back and forth. That's why if you ask three people when the quake started, you get three differen...

Re: How do I select long parts without...
You should take this as the opportunity to install Audacity 1.3.12. You can safely install both on your machine, just only use one at a time. http://audacityteam.org/download/ That's just one of the nicer tools in 1.3 missing from 1.2. That and Audacity 1.2 is pretty old and doesn't always get along...
