Re: CD help
It's not surprising when CD "song" titles are not listed. Music CDs do not carry song titles. The computer has to go on line to look them up. If the CD is not registered or listed anywhere, the song titles will be Track 01, Track 02, etc. Does the disk have the "Compact Disk Digital A...

Re: Getting strange distortions while recording
I'm hoping Billw is going to jump in here. I'm just data gathering. I don't have a clear idea (yet) what could cause this. I know how to mess this up on a Windows machine, but you're on a Mac. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Read what you have selected. Apple > System Preferen...

Re: Getting strange distortions while recording
Don't mess with the latency delays. That causes problems if you have a sick machine. Audacity > About Audacity and give me the version number, plz. Audacity > Preferences > Recording. Which selections do you have checked? This recording had tone on it, right? Can you make another short recording? Wi...
Re: CD help
CDex failed? That's hard to believe. Did you get any error messages?
Audacity will edit the files after CDex rips the music.

Re: Add label, but now not allowed to Edit Label--orSave Pro
Try a fresh project (restart Audacity). Restart the computer, too. Use this sound file, not one of yours. It's really short. http://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhaset4.wav Add labels that only have filename safe characters. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and underscore. If that works, slow...

Re: Spectrum
The spectrum tool launches from First Birthday in linear frequency and a really tiny sample frequency. Change to Log display and up the sample accuracy to at least 8192. Then grab one corner of the window and crank it as wide and tall as you can. The accuracy goes up constantly as you do that. Do yo...

That's a cousin to the Shure X2U that I use. It's rough to mess that up. They're pretty simple.

Re: Getting strange distortions while recording
It could be something you don't normally associate with live recording. Did you recently install Skype? Did you recently decide to record internet shows and install SoundFlower or other internet program or software? If one of those events happened, you may be recording yourself twice. The first reco...

Re: How do I record "Dolby Digital 5.1" Surround Sound?
First you need to rip the DVD and get the show off, then possibly separate the AC3 bitstream (from the other sound tracks and the video layers). Then you can use a program to split the AC3 out to six audio channels. http://register.video-buzz.com/Download/index.aspx?s=ac3filter&c=816042&Sess...
