Re: "Muffling" Voices?

Not exactly muffling. I'd be looking at a vocoder effect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvqjjrOZNxc&feature=related I think there's one built into Audacity 1.3.12. You need two sounds. A base sound like his guitar and then the modulating sound which is his voice. You can use any two sounds for ...

Re: Audacity cannot record on other computer...

Are you doing this in the Windows Control Panel, or the Audacity Input Panel? In Vista and Win7, you need to do everything in Windows. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel Sometimes you need to restart Audacity even after you...

Re: Trouble Uploading Recordings Online

The developers call those "Moonphase Problems" for obvious reasons. "Oop, it's a full moon. Time for Audacity to crash!" At the risk of not putting too much thought into this, I'm going to chase you over to Audacity 1.3.12. Audacity 1.2 is very old now and isn't particularly stab...

Re: Scratchy sound on recordings

Excellent. I don't mean the problem is excellent, I mean your sample was very clear. Let me predict the past (pressing fingers to forehead). You're using a USB microphone, right? Are you running it through USB hub or other equipment? USB audio doesn't like that very much. USB microphones need a stra...

Re: No sound when creating MP3 files?

Chances are excellent you never had a BBC recording and both the capture and the export are silent. Win7 is much less likely to let you record internet sound. Microsoft is getting militant about that. After you captured the BBC show and before you exported it, did you have blue waves on the timeline...

<<<I have been experiencing static when downloading the exported files >>>

...and playing them on what? Have you tried more than one player? Many people called complaining about static?

Re: Testers needed for Mac 1.3.13 Alpha to resolve bug fixes

<<<except for Bug 196 which just needs to import about 30 MP3s,>>>

And the person who found this bug left 30 MP3s posted conveniently on-line, right?

Re: totally lost

I don't think we're trying to rescue the show any more. That was created using a known unstable version of Audacity and may be permanently damaged.

How did the Disk Utilities test go?

Re: Importance of Recording Levels for 16-Bit?

I'm going to side-step the question with the idea that you should always record a live performance as loud as you can with no possibility of overload damage. Overload or clipping is almost always fatal. The limit of 16 bit recording is something like 90dB, which, given the converter can do it, gives...
