Re: Amplify settings (2) are always locked together
Nobody in all that mentioned "Normalize" which is Amplify that sets Left and Right individually. If you're after "flat" background volume, you can't do better than Chris's Compressor. http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ Chris works like an FM radio station loudness pr...

<<<The high pass filter to remove rumble has three parameters to set.>>> Rumble filters have one interesting problem. Most people can't hear them work. You certainly can't use "computer speakers" and most entertainment systems won't go down that low, either. The limit of human hearing is g...

Re: Mark points in the waveform
Most people aren't that lucky. The early Audacity versions can be seriously unstable on newer computers. Audacity doesn't have Edit Markers like your video editor does. You can zoom in and place Labels at your edit points and then, when you zoom out, they become sticky or magnetic when you select ov...

That's correct. Audacity will not Save a sound file. File > Export.

Re: Beeping while recording
Analysis of the beep doesn't suggest anything. There are frequency peaks almost exactly every 1000 Hz up and down the frequency sweep. Something that rich in harmonics suggests oscillation or something becoming profoundly unstable and then recovering.

Re: Mix L and R channels of mono recording or not?
You only get annoying phasing problems if your stereo performance had significant differences between "left" and "right" and you listened to the show on a mono speaker. Minor phasing problems show as muffled, woolly sound. And yes, you can decrease noise significantly by adding u...

Re: Audacity cannot record on other computer...
Maybe not with the computer. There are other ways to record live performances. Many people use the Zoom recorders H2 through H4 or they maybe even higher now, as well as other personal recorders. Then transfer the work into Audacity for post production and conversion to final format.

Re: Changing The Pitch
This is a similar problem from another post. You can't go very far -- more than one or two piano notes without it sounding like a bad special effect or science fiction TV show.

Re: How do I make a voice sound the same as another voice?
You generally can't even do it with the pitch change. More than one or two piano notes off from normal and human voices start sounding off. We had requests to turn male voice into female and back, grownup into child, make a sucky voice into an announcer/presenter, and one to save somebody from sound...
