Re: Sony Vaio Windows Record 7 Problem

Sony may be in the music business, but Microsoft is in the business business. A bit ago they gave up Consumer Entertainment ideas and went entirely with business and commerce solutions and software.

Business and Commerce tends not to need recordings of a cat playing the piano on YouTube.

Re: recording off air to dell inspiron

Just because I haven't hijacked a thread in a long time, I opened up my office XP machine... Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sound Recording > Realtck AC97 Audio and "Advanced" is gray. That means I'm Surely Out of Luck, right, other than money-based software or hardware...

<<<#3 If there is audio that is almost silent; like -49dB, It would be nice if it could select all audio below some dB limit and it will be set to true silence (-INFdB?) and all audio that surrounds the "silenced" spot will be smoothly Faded Out/In.>>> That one you can do with Steve's Nois...

That's getting more and more difficult to do with Windows computers. Crank through this wiki collection. It can be different on different machines. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer...

Re: search track for file-based sound byte

I think you need to station ID at least once an hour and you're allowed to slide it if it conflicts with the show. If you have the accurate time that you started recording, then it sh...

Because they were built-to-purpose. They weren't general purpose computers masquerading as something else. They didn't have to worry about Windows Update® doing a massive critical patch at the exact instant you're trying to record "Are You Being Served?" Even with iCAL, the Mac scheduling ...

Re: recording off air to dell inspiron

On Windows XP, the software may be found under "Other" "Hidden" "Obsolete" "Advanced" or some label like that. They're getting you used to the fact that it's only supported sporadically in Vista and not at all in Win7. Read through here... http://wiki.audacity...

Re: recording off air to dell inspiron

You're not recording "off-air." That requires a radio receiver and connections to the computer.

Windows XP can usually be configured to record On-Line Streaming Audio.

Re: Cannot Record via Onboard Audio in Windows 7

It's not unusual for someone to make it through a careful, thorough explanation of the problem and not tell us what the job is. What are you trying to record? YouTube audio? Yes, that's correct. As you progress from WinXP to Win7, recording the computer's own show is harder and harder. Many Win7 mac...
