Overwhelming chance the microphone or the microphone amplifier channel is overloading. That would be the microphone you didn't tell us anything about. What, exactly are you singing into?

Re: search track for file-based sound byte
<<<except once in a blue moon the same track will play twice in one hour!>>> You can get a lot of good jokes out of "Random." Like where is it written that "Random" can't have the same song twice, one after the other? You go find it. I'll wait here. That's not desirable , but it ...

Re: Legal?
<<<Is using audacity to record music from myspace, youtube, etc, legal?>>> No, of course not. However, few people get excited about it until you start to use somebody else's music for your profit -- or in some other way go public with it. Then you might get to talk to the lawyers. Many people have g...

Re: unplayable CD recordings from audacity files
When you slip a blank CD into a Mac, it opens after a short dialog on the desktop. It's ready to be a Data CD and accept any files, music or not, that will fit. Two Photoshop pictures and an Excel spreadsheet. Sure, why not? You can put music files on there, too, but that doesn't make it a Music CD....

Re: Audacity not recognizing my Tascam US-122 interface
Assuming you're using the USB connections of the Tascam, your computer should present the Tascam to you as a recording device in the Windows Control Panels. Audacity is helpless unless Windows knows about the device. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Is...

From the bottom: Silly Noises without the label opens as a Mono, 441000, 32-floating show and starts playing two minutes in. Seemingly perfectly. Silly Noises with label opens as a Mono, 44100, 32 float show and starts playing something like 3.6 minutes from the beginning. There is a label at 3 minu...

Re: Sony Vaio Windows Record 7 Problem
You do have to read between the lines. It still doesn't claim you can record a cat playing the piano on YouTube. It doesn't say you can play anything anywhere, it says you can play Windows Media on accepted platforms. You'll never guess what those accepted platforms are. The business publications ha...
