Re: thought voice vs spoken voice
Anything different works. If you're recording this with actual microphones, get close for the thought voice. Establish any normal dialog and apply any change for the thought voice -- almost anything. Slight echo or reverb. Put bass in, take bass out. Just be consistent through the show. There is a t...

<<<Maybe the backup was a free gift when you used Time Machine?>>> I think Time Machine's claim to fame is that it doesn't change anything. It flips from state to state exactly like it was. That's exactly the graphic metaphor they use -- twice. The backup icon is a tiny clock going backwards and rec...

Re: Cleaning up sound issues caused by stuttering mike
<<<speaker started to break up or even distort the speaker's voice>>> If all that happened was the volume went up and down or other graceful damage like that, then we'd be able to help you. Anything we do with clippers or compressors is just going to make the damage louder to fill up the holes in bl...

Re: Flac Mac Attack
For Windows Media, we use the Flip 4 Mac player plugin. That will handle picture and sound.

Given that this is about what it's supposed to look like all the time... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Everything about that presentation is wrong. Before and after are too high and the part in the middle is the right level, but missing parts of the actual performance. Do you...

<<<Also, when listening to your recorded audio, the audio will play on your computer speakers, not on your external speakers?>>> If you're on a laptop, you plug your external speakers or sound system into the headphone connection. If you do this, it defeats the little laptop internal speakers. You o...

Flac Mac Attack
Since very few developers are on Macs, it's probably good to know that FLAC isn't supported on QuickTime. I've been managing those guitar test clips in 44100, 32-float FLAC and they're functionally invisible to the Mac except through Audacity 1.3.12.
