Re: MP3 Year tag

Rather than me guessing what to do at both ends of this, can you create a short MP3 that you without question post a bogus year tag like 1942? I'll shop it around players and see which ones are correct.

Re: Can a couple of Mac people open these Windows projects?

<<<did you "close the project" immediately? >>>

Yes. I paused the progress long enough to take pictures and then closed everything. I'll have to roll it again to get the log.

Re: Remove a recorded track

"Noise" is a specific sound or family of sounds -- constant buzzes, hums, whistles, hash or hiss. It's not just "Bad Sound" or sound you don't want. There are very few tools that will remove individual performers or performances mixed into the total show and do it automatically. ...

Today when you tried to open up one music file?

If you download any of these short clips, do they play OK by themselves?

Re: Annoying problem when attempting to record

I bet your laptop is still doing conference and communications automatic adjustments. Windows machines come out of the shrink wrap all set to Skype into the corporate office, not high quality voice recording. One of the tricks it uses to avoid noise or interference in a multi-way call is to suppress...

Re: Adjusting Pitch to Sound Like Children's Voices

Most people fail to move voices very far. You can't shift more than one or two piano notes before human voices start to sound science-fictiony and odd. You can't go between man and woman or between anybody and a professional announcer. Another common one is adult to children and back. The problem is...

Re: Hollow, slight underwater sound in voice recordings

Do you on occasion record from the internet? That can cause problems. Check in the Windows Control Panels and make sure you do not have Mix-Out, Stereo Mix, or any selection like that. That setting, when used with a local, well behaved microphone can cause odd feedback problems. It can't be stressed...

Re: Saving/Exporting files

Our first natural reaction is to stop using Audacity 1.2. 1.2 is seriously old and not fully supported on newer machines.

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can put both versions on your machine safely, just only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2.

Start there.

Re: Need help with recording

Two other possibilities are from the corner of your mouth instead of straight-on -- like where a headset would be if you were wearing one, and record with the microphone further away and use Effect > Amplify to bring the weak volume up in post production.

Re: Only recording one voice

<<<I am using a real phone with a logger patch from DynaMetric.>>> There are three possibilities, not two.
