Re: Distortion and skipping
Mini Disc uses Sony ATRAC music format or PCM, not MP3. Audacity has no idea what to do with that and so plays the music badly. If you recorded the music PCM, that should have worked perfectly depending on the format. but you can get far less music on the disc. You might be able to find converter so...

Re: No "Export" Option
But to address the question right at the top of the pile. No, you shouldn't use Audacity to convert WMA to MP3. Audacity is a terrible converter. The fact that you could eventually, painfully force Audacity to open the WMA files as "raw" doesn't mean Audacity is going to be able to manage ...

Re: No "Export" Option
Just to cover the obvious. You were able to open the Windows Media files and play them, right? It's only the export that's holding up the show? You can Export the show as WAV files, right? When you downloaded lame, did you get the one that came with the version of Audacity you have? They're not all ...

Re: Cannot record right channel -Rec level at maximum
Plug a cable into the Line-In connection (Blue?) but don't plug it into anything else. Go into Windows Sound Panels and select Line-In to record from. Make sure Audacity Preferences is also set for Line-In and make a recording. Do you still get the right channel running at maximum volume? I don't kn...

Re: Annoying problem when attempting to record
Sorry. I'm one of the Mac elves. the last Windows machine I had was Windows 2000. You buried yourself a little bit by not posting in one of the Windows forums. Let's see if one of the Windows people can find you now.

Re: Techniques for Distinguishing Backing Vocals?
Unless you have the original, multi-track pre-mix, you can't take a performance apart into individual instruments and voices.
Sometimes, under limited circumstances, you can partially remove the lead singer. The process leaves you with a mono show, not stereo, when it works at all.
