You can get the distortion from Effect > Leveler, and Effect > Equalizer will take out the bass, but the warbling and speed changes are going to be much harder. Those tools tend to be one setting for the whole show, not one setting per phrase or word.

Re: DVD audio ripper
The sound on a DVD is Dolby AC3 which is a 6 channel sound system. If you take a wrong step, you're going to get the six channels back -- Center, Front Left, etc. etc. The DVD player mixes this down to stereo if you need it that way, so the demuxing software needs to do that, too. Also remember that...

Did the plug look like this...? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html You should make sure that Windows Control Panels are set to record from Microphone and that the microphone is plugged into the pink or red connection in the sound card -- or one that clearly says Mic-In. O...

Re: Dummy needs help badly
Since Audacity doesn't Save sound files, what you produced are Audacity Projects. Instead of trying to play those thousands of little snippets, you should be looking for an AUP type of file. That's a Project Manager and it will jam all those other files into a show for you. After you get that far, E...

Re: how do i silence keystrokes from recording
You could be listening to the computer data management devoted to whatever else you're doing at the time. Email, Spreadsheets, Photoshop Pictures... That's a lot harder to fix.
Windows isn't really a multi-tasking environment, although they keep insisting it is.

Re: how do i silence keystrokes from recording
This could be interesting. You're not really recording Streaming Audio. You're recording the Computer Sound System which happens to be presenting Streaming Audio, or YouTube, etc. Yes, you get the keyboard sound effects. I have to watch that, too. I'd be in Windows Control Panels finding out how to ...

Re: Back/Storage for Tapes/LPs
What's depressing is the vinyl that's likely to outlast any digital storage you're likely to do by yourself. I have work "safely" stored on Zip® disks. Remember Zip® disks? I have two systems that still run on floppies. Remember floppies? Oddly enough, the floppy systems work rings around ...

We have been known to send a four second sound file in the expected format. "Can you open this OK?"
We try to avoid as much as possible last-minute, panicky phone calls.
"Your sound file seems to be damaged........"
