Re: Cannot Record Sound From Computer

I'm going to be giving you instructions for Audacity 1.3.12. Audacity 1.2 is very out of date and can be unstable. You can install both of them, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2.

Re: Cannot Record Sound From Computer

That didn't go well. The podcasts will not play live and downloading crashes. Are they working on the servers -- this being Sunday night? Anyway, we can't do anything with "It Sounds Terrible," so record four or five seconds, Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono, and Export as FLAC. Post it here ...

Re: Having trouble getting started on new computer

You got lucky. Many people find they have no "hidden" features and have to resort to software to make it all work.

Re: The output sound is being recorded

This isn't an Audacity problem. When you set up to record internet audio, Windows runs both record and play sides of the sound card at once. You need to turn that off to record your voice or guitar. Go into Windows Control Panels and set your microphone or connection for recording, not "Mix-Out...

Re: Having trouble getting started on new computer

It's the first thing new computer owners want to do and it's the very last thing on the Windows/Microsoft To-Do list.

Re: Instrumental Records onto Vocal Track as well..

You're not recording your voice. You're recording "Mix-Out" or "Stereo-Mix" instead which captures all the sound the computer is making. That's where the double recordings come from. This is the setting you need to record internet audio and you can't do both. You need to reset th...

Re: Trouble burning a music C.D.

Audacity doesn't always supply perfectly normal sound files and when iTunes sees one of these things, it's a toss-up whether it needs to produce a Data CD or a Music CD. It could be either. You can specifically tell iTunes what to do at the burn step.
