Are you using AIFF files for a specific reason? Audacity defaults to Microsoft WAV format because it's perfectly supported on all three computer types.

Re: No sound when exported as mp3 or aiff
I think the first thing I'd do is stop using Audacity 1.2. It's not supported on modern Macs. If you Saved your work as a Project, it should open up in Audacity 1.3.12 which you can get from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac Then Export as WAV or AIFF or anything else. You can instal...

Re: Splitting Recordings
Being into punishment, I posted in the features section of the forum, and it turns out something like what you want plus word management is already available.

Re: Video analog to Audacity
I would kill to have Audacity work like a Video Editor. Audacity will not scrub, it does not have absolute time settings, and no In and Out Edit Point keys. You just haven't tried to do really fancy editing with Audacity yet. Video editors run into problems almost immediately. And no, I don't. Koz

Re: weird audio issues
The global, fuzzy problem is the computer is trying to send the playback sound to the wrong place. This happens a lot with USB devices. Go into Windows Control Panels and see where "Playback" is assigned.

Re: Joining Files
<<<I now understand why people aren't fans of MP3.>>> We're totally fans of MP3 for product delivery, email, running on the beach with your iPod, and on-line posting. For musical effects, archive, and production it sucks. Note that almost all complaints of quality of sound and failures of filters, e...

Re: Track plays SLOW upon importing
MP3 compressed files carry baggage from the original files that made them. It's not a one-size-fitz-all format. If some of your music came from video and some came from CD, there might be differences in the MP3.

Re: Track plays SLOW upon importing
Audacity is a terrible converter. It's good to make sure that all the music in a production is in exactly the same sound format before you start mixing. I would convert all the music to one single, uncompressed WAV format, like 44100, 16-bit, Stereo and then I bet all the speed problems vanish. You ...

Re: Need a little help
Now the down side. Audacity 1.2 is no longer supported on newer Macs. Download and use Audacity 1.3.12... http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac And if you try this trick with older iTunes purchases, it's not going to work because they're protected with FairPlay copy protection. To get those, you...

Re: Need a little help
<<<Note, the song I opened came from my iTunes Library, if that means anything.>>> It means a lot. Audacity doesn't directly support Apple iTunes AAC sound format. Before you do this, remember where the settings were when you change them, and change them back when you're done. Go into iTunes Prefere...
