Which is precisely why I don't like using it. It's a Magic effect that sometimes appears and sometimes doesn't, Since neither the meters nor the waveforms change, how do you know when you get it right?

Re: Improving audio quality on a WAV file
Assuming the sound isn't actually broken, you can apply Chris's Compressor...
Chris's Compressor
http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/
That one really does take the show bit by bit and changes the levels so everything comes out even.
It's not so easy to capture live events....

Oh, and run it multiple times. Any stable computer should be able to run this test overnight. I've used this test to find a bad power supply and a flaky motherboard as well as bad memory.

Re: Screen goes dark when I try to record my mike
Have you ever run a memory tester? Audacity may be the only software product you have that tries to use all your memory. If you have a bad memory stick somewhere in the high ranges, that would put your computer in the trash bin in a hurry. Most people bypass the login memory test that Windows does b...

<<<fade-out only the last 5% of the track.>>>
Do you really want a two-hour long track for fade out for six minutes?
Just wondering...

Re: Improving audio quality on a WAV file
Amplify just changes the overall loudness until the highest sound in the show hit the top. If the show is already that loud, then nothing happens. 44100. Now it gets messy. 44100 is the technical standard for a Music CD. 48000 is the standard for television sound. Normally it doesn't make any differ...

Re: L/R Channel Imbalance
Yes, Normalize does have the DC Remover tools inside. You can apply them without applying anything else. That's not a bad idea. Koz

Re: L/R Channel Imbalance
Normalize and Amplify are sisters. They increase (or decrease) the volume of a show until the highest peak reaches a set value. Amplify does it to the whole show as one piece. Normalize does it to left and right individually. That's it. They don't compensate for low trumpets or mess with the noise l...

Re: Right channel values are off the chart
Just that many people buy a Windows Laptop as an upgrade and discover to their horror that many of them are missing the Line-In connection. Completely. It's not unusual to do really well with most computers probably including your existing one with an External USB sound card like the UCA-202. http:/...
