You have an Audacity Project. Audacity does not Save sound files. To get a real, stand-alone sound file you have to Export one. File > Export > WAV.

Re: Recording meter stopped/frozen
<<<i tried using a different program>>> Which is? Stop using dark gray terms like that. You can't give us too much information. "I was able to use 32-bit Able-Audio® on my Dell Dimension Desktop machine with dual hard drives running Win7." We can't see over your shoulder and we're not all ...

Re: Recording Skype Conversation
We're able to rapidly weed out the balkanizing, walled-off applications by insisting each enthusiastic sales person be able to call our many existing, stable, already installed applications. It's rapidly getting worse. Each day brings a software package that fixes one small problem in the older syst...

Re: audacity Issues playing sound on Win 7
You posted in the Audacity 1.2 forum. If you like capturing music from the internet, then you may have the sound system set up to capture "What You Hear, Mix-Out or Stereo Mix." All these will interfere with your local sound production. Go into the Windows Control Panel and make sure you'r...

You Google your brains out. I don't know of any tool like that within Audacity. I think Adobe Audition has something like that...

Re: Getting error when I try to open a recorded file
<<<When I try to open a recorded file>>> Actually, you're trying to open up an Audacity Project, right, an AUP file? Well this is messy. The AUP file is a text file and you can open it up in NotePad and read it. This is a simple one. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg When you open yours, count...

Re: Recording Skype Conversation
One note while you're searching, the capture software packages come in two forms. The simple cheap ones grab all the sound they can reach and jam it into one sound performance. Those are OK, but much more useful are the packages that put your voice on the left and the far voice on the right. You can...

<<<Without finding and installing 100 unique AU plugins I can't stress test the addition of AU effects to the Effects menu.>>> I think before either of us does anything crazy, we get the plugin list from the poster. If they turn white and start mumbling about thousands of plugins, then we have our a...

Re: Noise Removal
I'm sitting quietly in the corner watching because I've never been able to get the 1.2 noise removal tool to do anything useful -- and I've tried. At least one elf has had very good results with it and is in the "removing it from my cold, dead fingers" camp. So here's hoping the developers...
