Re: PC mic level to line level or XLR

<<<Possibly some sort of home-made acoustic shield fitted to the headset mic to attenuate the sound from the keyboard,>>> He can't get the headset mic to work at all. It's the Apex 435 theatrical microphone that picks up all the room trash. The Apex is a cardioid microphone. It has a front and a bac...

Re: Not your typical latency question

Those hateful Macs have fixed hardware so the software can reliably do almost whatever it needs to. Did it do that with USB? That's surprising. They have the same USB problems that PCs do.

Re: Not your typical latency question

<<<USB interface.>>> I think you're pretty much out of luck. If you were on a computer with an analog Line-In, there's a possibility you could configure the Windows Control Panels to feed the input sound immediately out the headphone port for monitoring. That, the External Mixer, and the composite m...

Re: "Circular" Panning Inquiry

Whipping around left to right and back is a snap with the Envelope Tool (two white arrows and bent blue line). Going behind you is hard. Some very specific psycho-acoustic things happen when you perceive something behind you. Given you're not talking about Dolby 5.1 AC3 Surround Sound. That would do...

Re: PC mic level to line level or XLR

I understand perfectly why you would want your headset microphone to work. It's the simplest solution to the noisy "studio." However. It's not a problem of "converting" the headset microphone to a XLR to get it to work. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.ht...

It should also say [Authorize?] Click on that and type in the name of an administrator or someone who is authorized to change settings on the computer. Re: What is wrong with this signal?

Precisely why DC Offset is so damaging. The amount of offset comes right off the top of your available volume range. You should not be recording in the top 10% of the volume range anyway, particularly if you're performing a live musical instrument. Live performance should not peak much over 0.5 to 0...

Re: mixing sounds

Import the new sounds. Audacity will give each sound its own new track. Copy and Paste the new sound to the original one. It's strongly recommended that the technical standards of all the tracks match ahead of editing. Audacity isn't a very good converter.

Re: Preamps for Ribbon Mics

This promo still shows more or less proper orientation for a ribbon. That's an RCA 44BX. http://www.audiobooksonline.com/media/Fibber-McGee-and-Molly-Old-Time-Radio-otr-compact-discs-Radio-Spirits.jpg It's perfect for a two-person radio show. It saved many productions from having to go out and buy a...
