The vocoder effect in Audacity 1.3 may be able to help. The vocoder can make you sound like a musical instrument.
This clip is Peter Frampton singing through his guitar.

Re: making breaks during recording
Audacity 1.3 has a feature called Append Recording Shift-R. That should let you pick up right where you left off. However. the process is still prone to failure and crashes, so Save the Project under a new name each time to form a backup, and I would Export as WAV as well. Say you're 60 minutes into...

Re: Attaching/Forwarding recorded link
Audacity will not Save a sound file. Those are fragments of an Audacity Project. Don't lose any of them or your show may not play at all. Open your performance and File > Export As WAV. That will give you a sound file that you can send in an email. Those are pretty large, so you can also Export as M...

Re: DIY homemade recording studio
Yes, totally. That trick is decades old. I did that with a room in my patent's house when I was growing up back in the Garfield administration. It worked, too. More than you think. If you did it with flat cardboard, it would almost not work at all, but having it rumply and eggy like that helps a lot...

Re: PC mic level to line level or XLR
Nobody realizes how loud and obnoxious their environment is until the first time they try to make a recording. Hearing your world and your voice coming out of a speaker is a revelation. Have you gone through the list yet -- trying to identify where all the noises are coming from? If you have one ste...

Re: problem with recording multiple tracks
The AUP isn't a sound file, but it's not hard to imagine what happened. You're recording your own first performance twice. Are you recording Mix-Out or Stereo-Mix? Try resetting your Windows Control Panel so it's recording Line-In or Mic-In or whatever your microphone is connected to. Windows Contro...

Do you have like a million USB things connected to your machine? It's not unusual for only one internal system to try and keep track of all the USB connectors on your machine and real time anything always suffers. As an experiment, disconnect and turn off as many services and devices as you can. Kil...
