Re: Going to Setup a Small studio need advice
Same problem with the Alesis. Internally, it's just a stereo mixer. And yes, it's pretty insane to try and dig past the manufacturer's hype and find out what you want. You can't go by the big red Helvetica headlines "Six Channel Sound Board." The PV6 is a six channel sound mixer -- going i...

Re: Having problems with static
It's possible you killed your microphone. They do fail. Do you have access to another computer? Either Mac or Windows. If Mac, Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Select the microphone and the blue ball sound meter should jump when you talk. If Windows, you can try the Windows Sou...

+1.
Crinkle newspapers in front of a very high quality microphone and then crinkle newspapers in front of a crappy microphone -- same environment. Apply the difference to an equilization of the crappy microphone.

Re: Having problems with static
Do you still have the red light on the top? Is it steady? Shut down the computer. Unplug the microphone and restart Windows. After it's finished starting, shut down again and plug the microphone in and out multiple times -- both ends of the cable. Reach around the back of the microphone, note where ...

Re: Going to Setup a Small studio need advice
Alesis MultiMix 4 That should work -- just. It's really a two channel mixer with channels three and four mixed into one stereo fader knob. Any one of the mixers like this should work because they all push a simple, stereo USB show out to the computer for recording. That's right down Audacity's alley...

<<<The Sennheiser HD 25-I and Koss Pro-4AA >>> That's just about what I have except my Sennheisers are open-air. The Pro-4AAa are terrific, but you need help holding up your head after a while and something to mop up the sweat. But they put you into the performance like nothing else. You know they'r...

Re: What's this noise? (Squeal while recording.)
You might try plugging something into the audio connections of the computer several times just to make sure corrosion or bad connections aren't the problem. I'm putting money on an analog problem. This is so like bad connection problems I've had to service for years. The microphone connection in you...

Re: not able to record using microphone
That was painful. The web site has no good pictures so I had to download the instruction book. Do you have the USB light on the front of the US-100? Do you have the little switch on the back set for "Mic?" Advance the left knob "Input" until the green "SIG" light on the...

Re: What's this noise? (Squeal while recording.)
Never mind. I forced it to work. Something is oscillating. Pull out any sound plugs and connectors and scrub them with simple glass cleaner or vodka (I'm not kidding) and a paper towel. If you can't get to them easily. just pull and push back in several times. Wiggle any sound connections while you ...
