Re: Unable to open target file for writing
<<<Unfortunately, every time I try to export a file, it says "Unable to open target file for writing." I've searched this up a million times and the only solution is to remove "forbidden" characters. That is not that case here. I have no dashes or unicode characters. I have LAME ...

Re: Cassette to CD using Audacity on Mac OS X
We expect what you did to work. You can't, however, stop and start. That creates two musical tracks right on top of each other -- and they play at the same time. Since you're in Audacity 1.3.12, you can use Append Record Shift-R to jam one live recording at the end of an existing one -- not regular ...

Re: reording problems
The self-recording options are completely dependent on Hardware, Windows, and Drivers. If you designed the system to have them, then they'll be there. A fraction of newer Windows machine just don't have it and you have to add software to get it. Total Recorder, I believe can do it out of the box...b...

Re: NOISE REMOVAL QUESTION
There are three frequently encountered sound formats: -- Mono -- a straight, single audio track. -- Stereo, where two tracks carry the music plus direction information. The two tracks, left and right, are different so you can tell that the violins are coming from the left. The left speaker gets loud...

You "reinstall" Audacity by trashing a preference file, not by installing fresh software.

Re: editing iphone memo recordings
If you have free iTunes, you can use that to convert files into plain WAV.
iTunes (or Edit) > Preferences > General > Import Settings > WAV Encoder.
Open the work in iTunes and Advanced > Make WAV Version.

Re: Unable to open target file for writing
There is one other thing that can mess this up, did you use MP3 metadata panel and did you use forbidden characters there? Like write down the artist and music type, other notes, etc, etc. By Audacity 1.3.12, you're supposed to have to worry about this, but sometimes you still do. Try Exporting the ...

Re: First Act Usb Guitar Cable Won't Record
<<<I don't need an amp plugged in or anything do I ??>>> No. what we're all expecting is the cable to use the power coming from the computer USB connection to run a simple analog to digital converter. The guitar signal is plenty loud enough that it does need any further boosting. It then sends the d...
