Re: No USB option.
<<<Line (2-UAC3556B>>> I think I'd pick that one. Reset Audacity preferences and Quality to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Restart Audacity. Then go back into Windows Control Panels and make sure it's not trying to send your speaker sound back out to the turntable. That's another common complaint: I plugged...

Re: Recording playback off my PC
It wasn't a Cool Edit thing. The computer has to support that, and not all do.

Re: Background noise only when exporting
Let's take this again slow. Remember this? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Do your green bouncing sound meters read 0, 6, 12, 18, down beyond -48 like mine do? Do the scribbly blue waves extend just beyond the +.5 and -.5 marks like mine do? Pull down this brief sound clip and ...

Re: how to isolate instrument from song?
The "Vocal Removal" software in Audacity works very simply. It deletes anything exactly in the middle of the stereo show -- neither left nor right. This is generally the singer and sometimes bass and drums, too. You don't get the singer by herself. The singer just vanishes and you're left ...

Re: Background noise only when exporting
Audacity 1.3.12 is the current version and is probably the most stable Audacity in a long time. Highly recommended.

Re: Background noise only when exporting
<<<should not be added during export.>>> Yes, but. Try this. Go into Audacity Preferences > Quality. Does it say 44100, 32-bit Float? That's Audacity default. Open the show and Export > Other Compressed Files > Options > Microsoft WAV, 32-float. That should give you a sound file uncompressed and wit...

Re: Guitar muted when recording
My impression is the machine will record from Mic-In or Line-In, but not both. It's not a production mixer. Further, a Guitar pickup or the Line-Out of a guitar amp will overload the Mic-In of a computer. Mix ahead of time. Can you plug the microphone into the guitar Amp? Then plug the Amp into the ...

Re: Audacity 1.3.12 - How to transfer over projects from 1.2
You're experiencing the reason we urge, strongly, that you Export As WAV whenever you get anything valuable you want to save. Audacity Projects do not make good archives. Alternately, you could have a damaged project because you damaged it. Audacity doesn't copy music inside itself for editing unles...
