I know nobody in their right mind would do overdubbing using earbuds. They were handy for the pictures—and they do work.

Lossless should have saved your show as an actual Project, plus uncompressed sound files of all the original tracks. They're huge, but they're all-inclusive.

Why did you do a re-install? Did you delete the Audacity configuration files? If you didn't, you didn't get a fresh Audacity. You got hang-over settings from the old one.
