Re: Levels too low, but peak volume is high
That's what the producer is doing between the time the artist records the performance and the CD goes out the door. There's usually a several week gap in there where the producer and engineers "get it right" with all those tools in the studio and/or mixing programs. I did an April Fool thi...

Re: Mixing sounds
I'm sure this isn't it, but the SOLO and MUTE buttons to the left will allow you to play two at once or mute only one, but you can't change things while Audacity is running. It's not real time production. You could play Audacity on two or more computers.

Re: Levels too low, but peak volume is high
Try Chris's Compressor. Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ It's a plugin. He wrote it so he could listen to opera with its large volume variations in the car. One of the side effects of the compressor is the show gets much louder with little or no apparent damage. Liv...

Re: Feature Request: Automatic Loop Finder
I can think of all sorts of technical problems with this. How long a segment makes a loop? Six Notes? Ten? Can you have a three minute loop in one of those dance versions that goes for fifteen minutes? Many songs have a phrase that they use at the beginning, middle and end to tie the portions of the...

Re: Getting Audio From TV
Usually the Red and White RCA connections on the back of a TV are so you can connect an older VCR to the TV and watch it. The VCR produces the show, not the TV. If you have a built-in microphone on your laptop, you can use that to record the TV show by recording the TV speakers in a quiet room. Of c...

Re: help with sound echo when recording guitar
If your recording is half the track height and it sound a little dense and crunchy, then you're overloading the Mic-In connection of your laptop.
That's when you do to the UCA-202 thing.

Re: Everything is being recorded, not just the cassette.
If you have audacity preferences set to 44100, 16-bit Stereo, Export your music as [WAV (Microsoft) Signed 16-bit PCM]. Those files should drag directly into Windows Media Player. Most people like to chop up their performance into individual songs. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/How_to_burn_CDs Koz

Re: Files seemingly intact. No audio
Sudden, unexplained computer insanity can be your hard drive filling up. Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities Select the hard drive > Verify Disk While you're in there, it is required that you maintain at least 10% free space on your hard drive for live production of any sort, audio or video. Repair Perm...

Re: Problem while playing a track
"Play and/or record using RAM (useful for slow drives) so now audio is chached in memory not in my old drive That may help in the short term. Computer memory is the sprinter. Blistering fast performance for a short time. Disk Drive is the long-haul performer. That's where you need to put the t...

Re: How to email an audacity file
Is there a particular reason you need to send an Audacity Project -- all the files and folders that make up the show?
