Re: Help...error message

I'm thinking about possible differences between this show and the others. Did you use unfortunate filenames on this show? Any dates for example? Audacity hates that. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and underscore are the only universally safe characters in filenames.

Re: Help...error message

I can't reproduce this problem. But I can tell you that Audacity 1.2 used to behave differently when you were inside the program and File > Open, than it did when you right-clicked on an AUP file > Open With... Try that. Close Audacity and make Windows open it for you. If that works, then you have y...

Re: How to have a booming voice like God with effects?

It's easy for reverberation effects to make the voice muddy. You might want to put the clean voice on one track and the effect voice on a lower one. Use the Envelope tool to go between them until you get what you want. You can do that with the other tools as well. I still think you can get a very ot...

Here it is. Chorus effect.

Throw that in the mix. Whisk gently.

Re: Recording and Export at 24 bit

You can't depend on Audacity to tell you what you have -- the standards of your clips. One of the Feature Requests is for Audacity to have an INFO or Inspector service similar to QuickTime. Without that, it's a complete crap shoot. Audacity likes to "help you" by sliding the technical stan...

Re: USB Line Input

The video device may embed the sound into the video as a compressed package such as AVI, MOV, or one of the H.264 variations. Audacity may not be able to separate the sound from the composite file. If you do manage it, it will be extra work because you have to capture the whole show as a video and t...

Re: No sound on playback

In Windows, I think it's under Help > About. The Windows install of Audacity 1.2 sometimes poisons the well for succeeding versions. Audacity keeps its operating preferences separate from the actual program. That's why "starting over" by reinstalling Audacity doesn't do anything. The new i...

I'm beginning to regret buying this product
Start with how you bought a free product.

Did you get it from the free download site? You may have an outdated Audacity or not have Audacity at all.

Re: SSM2019 monolithic pre-amp chip

I pulled down the data sheet. It looks like a very nice amplifier. Top quality noise specification, frequency response, etc. However. They don't mention gain trim in the sheet. You can't run the thing at 60dB gain all the time. That's an invitation to input overloading and clipping. The chip I used ...
