Re: Recording through the PA System?
Before you even open Audacity, there should be an application that lets you control the device. Anything labeled "Control" or "Mixer." Was there an instruction package or is there an instruction book inside the stuff you installed? This looks like a delightful audio device, but s...

Re: Orphaned files/audio
Everything is important. You posted a 1.3 question in the 1.2 forum. That's what threw me. Is your Audacity fresh with no additional filters or tools? You can download additional plugins to Audacity and if you get a bad one, it can cause Audacity to behave oddly. How large is your disk drive and how...

Re: Help...error message
That's OK. we got it already. The file is blank.
You can open up an AUP file in notepad or wordpad and read it. It's a text file like this...

Yours, however, is completely white screen blank. I'm guessing the last time you saved it, it didn't.

Re: Recording through the PA System?
OK. Got it. The Line-In on this device is also the Phono-In (not Phone-In). Because you can't do both at once, there has to be a control panel or switch system somehow. It's possible there are switches on the bottom or inside the unit. It's much more likely that there is a software package that you'...

Re: Levels too low, but peak volume is high
Ummmm. I think I got lost there. It's only during Export that the problems manifest? How do you know that the waveforms are the same between similar performances of loud and soft songs?

Re: Unusual, infuriating issue with playback. HELP PLEASE
You didn't "lose" the content. Chances are you removed the content from Audacity's reach. Audacity, unless you change it, doesn't pull music into itself for editing. It plays and edits music from outside files -- and leaves the files right there . Did you "clean up" all those sou...

Re: Levels too low, but peak volume is high
I think we may be dealing with something different than just compression. Let's see what the sound samples are like. There's a few different version of Chris's dynamics compressor floating around. Could you post a screen-shot of the version that you are using.

Re: Levels too low, but peak volume is high
Did we ever find out the particulars of your system? I don't recall it. Windows? Which one? What are you using to burn the CD? Which program and what are the settings? I recall a setting in iTunes where you can set automatic level compensation where it tries to set the volume for you. Over on Window...
