Re: Audacity killed Skype
...of course I don't listen to music at the same time. Nor could you. The playback service has been commandeered to present the voice from the far end and generate an echo profile so the voice doesn't go back into your microphone and back to the sender. Your microphone is also running -- in real ti...

Re: Clipping or Distortion on Vocal High Notes of Ripped Aud
The live concerts were originally video taped Onto what exactly? HDCam? DVCam? HDV? Digital Format Something? Hopefully not Hi8 or something like that. Those translate directly to 48000, 16-bit stereo when you process them on playback, and if they're good to go then, that should be the whole story ...

Re: Mic Issue! =\
I just bought a studio mic hoping to record vocals in audacity with my pc. I'm using a 1/4" plug to 3.5 mm converter to plug the mic into the computer soundcard. That's what's supposed to happen. You left out a lot of steps and information, but that's basically it. The microphone (depending on...

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
Everybody's expecting the Apple lead page to be painfully correct... http://www.apple.com/ ...but even the Microsoft page -- given that it's two pages instead of one. http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx They used to be one page and even at that I didn't have much trouble finding stuff. So wh...

Re: help with sound echo when recording guitar
Recording slightly low is actually a good thing because slightly low can easily be fixed. Slightly high can overload and cause crunchy, clicking, clipping damage. If you get that, it's the end of the show. there's no good way to fix it. Many people recording personal performances for the first time ...

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/IdealDownload.jpg It depends on how the page was created. I have no standard web development tools in either platform and it's perfectly obvious I do everything badly by hand. but it can't possibly be that hard to generate that page. Maybe if it's in wiki forma...

Re: Audacity killed Skype
If you paid the big bucks for QuickTime Pro, then you and I can both record video or audio (or both) using that. Audacity is irrelevant. I want to talk you out of trying to use Skype and anything else at the same time. Our standing joke is Skype Does Not Play Well With Others. It resets sound system...

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
I sincerely hope they can't see the bottom board in that image? I trust with all the effort that went into making it they can't. My point is the idea that programmers and techies of all stripes inevitably have that that adding stuff is always good. Remember that posting I made with the Mac download...

Re: How delete first nn minutes of MP3 file?
As you noticed, Audacity is not a "WAV" editor. It's an Editorial Production Environment Manager. It always makes a completely new MP3 file at the end and it doesn't matter what you started with. You must have installed lame possibly on an older version of the program, because Audacity wil...

Re: How to uncompress a file
Stop leaping over the important details.
You got home and opened up the machine and Audacity was still running, right? You Exported a WAV file or what? Exactly what happened next?
