Re: Putting mp3s togethor
Audacity natively supports FLAC in and out. FLAC doesn't have near the compression vigor of MP3, but it doesn't create damage, either. A far better idea. If we haven't already, we advise strongly to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can install both versions, but only...

Re: Putting mp3s togethor
I have a program called direct mp3 joiner and it actually does what I want without re encoding. I am on a trial though and want a free solution. :/ And you can make a new MP3 at the same file size without increased damage? That's rough to believe. The video people have a similar tool, but it's hit ...

Re: Putting mp3s togethor
The reason I made this thread is to find a way to just put mp3s together without re-compressing because I don't want to lose quality. Good luck with that. MP3 or MPEG1, Layer 3 works by carefully managing quality perception and data compression. If you change anything -- like mixing two songs -- th...

Re: tone arm
That's an internal adjustment under the turntable and on less expensive machines, can't be fixed. Did you save the receipt? Do you have a Stylus-Up button on the turntable? Is it stuck? Exercise it once or twice and see if it does what it's supposed to do. What happens if you start the record in the...

Re: I need a bit of help making a remix
Audacity is a terrible converter, so if your songs are all different technical standards, they're not going to mix well even if you do manage to get them all on a timeline at once. You can use Super or Switch (download) to convert everything to one standard. 44100, 16-bit, Stereo WAV format is good....

Re: FM Stereo "noise" and its removal
You have some other problem. 19.000KHz is the frequency of the broadcast stereo pilot tone needed to decode the stereo signals. It's injected into the show at 9%-10% of the total loudness (reducing the show volume by 10%) and is always there in a stereo show. That's what lights the little [STEREO] l...

Good you're here in this section. Now you're at the mercy of the turning of the earth. The elves are all over the planet and it may take a bit of time for morning to come where they are. I'm in Los Angeles and I'm getting ready to go to bed. I'm a Mac elf, so I'm not going to be much help. Do you ha...

Re: Forum locked
Please repost in the forum section closest to your computer type and version of Audacity (I think I see you did already.) We are reducing the number of options in the forum based on our sense that there are so many of them, no new user has ever figured them out anyway. For example, if you're having ...

And no, Deutsche Grammophon did not produce it like that.

Re: Clipping or Distortion on Vocal High Notes of Ripped Aud
No Valkyrie, but I did find a nice Kathleen Battle. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/battle.wav Burn that to a Music CD. Don't do anything to it, don't process it, don't adjust it. Just dump it into your Music CD burner, burn it and play it in the car. I bet it distorts on the soprano peaks,...
